Te Aponga Uira Carpark Array, Cook Islands

Working closely with Andersons, who installed the 10kW array at the head offices of Te Aponga Uira (TAU), PicoGrid was chosen to monitor and visualize the solar output of 5 Enasolar 2kW-GT inverters located in TAU’s car park. Completed to demonstrate the building block of residential systems based on a 2kW grid-connect inverter, the array produces renewable electricity for the headquarters of the nation’s electricity company.

Using poured concrete pillars and highly durable framing, this array was designed with pacific-strength storms in mind. Housed in an enclosure for the public to see are the 5 inverters, all monitored using a single PicoGrid unit. At the same time, the array provides welcome shade in the parking lot for visitors and staff, as the Rarotonga sun is powerful year round.
